File a Complaint with EPA New England

Cullion Concrete Plant, April 2007

Here’s mine:

Dear EPA of New England, I am writing to express my concern about the concrete plant being built on Marine Drive in Cranston, RI. The DEM issued a permit to build this concrete plant on a flood plain in very close proximity to residential homes. They are already violating their own permit by leaving vehicles on the property during a flood. Please stop this environmental hazard from invading our community.

  1. Dear EPA of New England,

As a Cranston resident, taxpayer and mother of a 3 and 5 year old, I am writing to express my outrage about the concrete plant being built on Marine Drive in Cranston, RI. The DEM issued a permit to build this concrete plant on a flood plain in very close proximity to residential homes, and abuts the Pawtuxet River and the Bethany Lutheran Cemetary (who also stand in opposition of this plant). They are already violating their own permit by leaving vehicles on the property during a flood. Cullion has consistently shown blatant disregard to uphold the laws and Permit stipulations (all evidence starts from the initial permitting process). Please stop this environmental hazard from invading our community.

My family had confidence that this facility would NEVER get a DEM Permit or Air Permit, because it’s in a residential area, a flood zone and on pristine grounds abutting the rivers that feed into the Narragansett. The EPA must look into this matter before it becomes harder for us to control and at what cost to the air and riverways?

    Be well,
    Suzanne Arena
