Guns and the Elderly
It’s a worry. Guns, depression, confusion are a bad mix. There’s lots of dangerous junk in old people’s homes.

This projo article on how Mayor Fung is going to hold a community forum discusses the issue of who will run against him next year. It’s Health Care Reform Sing Along Time!!!
Every struggle, be it war, civil rights, or Dancing with the Stars has catchy tunes. So it should be, and in fact is, with the struggle over health care reform. To that end, via Youtube, I offer the following for consideration by social activists and music critics alike:
Because It Happens to a lot of Us
Rhode Island poet Cathleen Calbert has an essay in The New York Times that discusses the complicated lines we draw between “men” and “boys” and “guys.” The writing turns from comedy to tragedy as the essay unfolds into a memory of childhood molestation. Read the essay here.

Shout Down Agenda
So what is the threat of the rest of the country seeing what the Values Voters endorse? This was an event with press invited. What else is going on?
Governor Carcieri Opposes Health Care Reform
Using language that pits uninsured Americans against insured ‘taxpayers’– as if uninsured don’t pay taxes, as if any working person isn’t at risk of losing their insurance along with their job– this is not leadership, it’s division.
Making an Exception
I can’t understand people who seem willing to hold up health care for millions of uninsured Americans for the fear that some undocumented people might slip through the cracks in the system and get seen by a doctor.
