I have worked at several non-profits over my 20-year professional tenure since college, and it has always been a question in my mind how the top tier in non-profits could be paid so much money. It seems that since non-profits benefit from their tax status, it would make sense for them to be required by the government to follow a formula for how much they can pay their top tier — something like no more than 10 times the minimum wage of the organization.
