Probably not, but it’s a nice Friday morning fantasy after a week of crushing defeats for those who believe in civil liberties (Cindy Sheehan), economic justice (big cuts to student loans and medicaid) and an end to government corruption (Boehner). Supreme Court Justice Alito split with the other conservative justices and refused to allow Missouri to execute a death-row inmate. The Boston Globe has the details.

I’m not optimistic. there is a catholic position that the pro-life philosophy includes opposition to the death penalty.
i wish the people who have religious objections to abortion would make their argument in the religious arena and stop attacking the legality and safety of abortion.
it would be a real change if catholic women were noted to have a lower abortion rate, which is not the case
and catholic boys and men were noted for their respect for women and responsible sexual behavior, which is not the case.
Point well taken, Nancy. I had forgotten about the fact that Alito is more than “alito” Catholic. Well, some say that if Roe gets overturned, it may actually bring about real organization and mobilization to get the pendulum swinging in the other direction. I hope it doesn’t have to swing that far to the right to get us in gear, but it could be.
