Loss of an Honorable Leader: Peter T. Pastore, Jr.

We are struck with sadness for the sudden loss of Peter Pastore, former President of the City Council of Cranston, and member of the council for 14 years. The obituary from today’s Projo:

PASTORE, PETER T., JR., 47, of Firglade Drive, Cranston, died Thursday at home. He was the husband of Louise DiChiara Pastore.

Born in Warwick, he was the son of Peter T. and Emilia (DellaRosa) Pastore Sr. of Cranston. Mr. Pastore had resided in Cranston for the past 30 years. He was currentlyExecutive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer for Randolph Savings Bank, Stoughton, MA, and recently appointed Director of the Bank. He was a member of the Real Estate Advisory Board, Warren Group Inc. and served on the Massachusetts Banking Association Federal Liaison Committee.

He served on the Cranston City Council for 14 years serving as President the last 4 years. During his tenure on the City Council, Peter was a founder of the Cranston Teen Center. He was instrumental in creating legislation to help small business. Peter was dedicated to his role as a public servant.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Elena Anne Pastore, Christina Chiara Pastore and his one year old son Peter T. Pastore, III, all at home, a sister, Teresa Accardo of Cranston, he was the son-in-law of Dr. Frank W. and Esther DiChiara of North Providence. He was the uncle of Peter Accardo and his wife Michele of Cranston.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church Cranston, and may call at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on SUNDAY 4-7 p.m. Entombment will be in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cardiology Division of Caritas-St. Elizabeth Medical Center, 736 Cambridge St., Boston, MA 02135-2997.

  1. I have just learned of Peter’s death. He was so clear headed and humane, he will be missed as a civic leader and as a good citizen.
