It’s all beginning to make sense. When Joe “Isadore-Mat Lieberman sided with his Republican pals on the Terry Schiavo case and “supported an emergency bill asking a federal court to consider reinserting Ms. Schiavo’s feeding tube days before she died in March 2005, it had little to do with religious, moral, or legal concerns. The Senator’s decision was really a matter of political prescience, as he anticipated that a time would come—as it has now—when his career would lapse into a persistent vegetative state and his Democratic colleagues and constituents would seek to put him out of his, and their, misery.
Only Joe still seems to have some life left in him, albeit just on the right side of his brain. (The left remains completely inactive.) He’s refusing to succumb to his political injuries and insisting on staying the course. It’s unclear whether the Senator will survive to live another term. Should he manage to do so, he’ll have the Republicans—who reportedly have cast Joe in the lead of their revival of Weekend At Bernie’s—to thank for it. The question still remains: is Lieberman’s political life better off dead? Many around the country and in Congress would offer a resounding yea. But the decision is not theirs. It’s up to Joe himself and the voters of Connecticut. And no one ought interfere with such a highly personal decision.
As it stands right now Joe Lieberman has done the Democrats party a serious disservice by his supporting this President on this war in Iraq for all the wrong reasons and still supports this war with all the lies that were used to get us into this quagmire in Iraq. We need to get out of Iraq as soon as possible because not only are own soldiers being killed and wounded each and every day thousands of Iraqi’s have been maimed and killed by their own people. How many more must die and be wounded for life to this futile war? I say we pull our A.S.A.P. because all this war has done is made the Middle East very unstable and riles up the anger of the Arabs much the way Lawrence of Arabia did in World War I for the British. If the British and the French had done a better job of the way they treated the citizens of the countrys that they had as colonies and un der their flags maybe we wouldn’t be in this quagmire today and the Islams and Arabs wanting to kill everyone of us. If this President had gone after Osama Bin Laden after the incident on 9-11-01 No one would be complaining today about this situation in Iraq, But the President did the wrong thing instead of doing the right thing he did the wrong thing and invaded the wrong country and now we are kind of the same predictment that we were in Vietnam. We were there for the wrong reasons and lies by LBJ and the cronies in the Pentagon Secretary of Defense McNamara and all those other cabinets members that sent us to war in Vietnam. This country puts crummy dictators in power in these countries and when things go sour we end up in a war for the wrong reasons. No wonder dictators in Latin America come to power so that they can rob there own citizens and the United States teaches them to torture their own peoples if they disagree with the people in power. All these third world countries are holden to the United States because of either oil or big business and yet we do nothing to correct the situation to make the country a real democracy like ours with a constitution like ours and laws like ours. Our government and those in power treat the third world countries like they are colonies or next to slaves if they don’t cooperate with us. At Fort Benning Georgia our Army teaches torture to these dictatorships so that big corporate business can run rough shod over the people down there and pay them a fair wages, and take away jobs from own citizens and send this labor to foreign countries where these corporations do not pay any taxes, no health insurance or other benefits that our citizens get here in our country and can pollute the countryside all they want without any reprecussions from the government. If the world started recycle everything that it wastes maybe we can stop the pollution of this planet and maybe we can all live in harmony with each other and stop all the better ways to kill and slaughter people of this planet. Since the birth of Christ we have had wars all over this planet and just keep finding better ways to kill people. This needs to stop now. The United States of America needs to get our act together and make life better for everyone that lives on this planet and for all the animals etc. This should happen so that this planet can become that garden of eden that is referenced in the Bible and other Religious documents over the centuries.
We have had people like Adolph Hitler, General Tojo from Japan, Idi Amin from Africa, Pol Pot from Cambodia; Saddam Hussein from Iraq; The Shah from Iran; Pinocet from Chilie; Somosa from Nicaragua that have killed thousands of their own peoples. It is time to put a stop to this tragedy to the world. If we are the most powerful Nation on this planet and are going to be the policemen of the world as a nation we need a change in direction. You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar as the saying goes. We need to use more honey on our diplomatic relations with other countries and not vinegar to turn the tides on these issues.
