With just over two weeks until election day, George Bush will once again be on the stump today, which makes perfect sense given how stumped he truly is. As noted in the Washington Post, “with his party facing a difficult midterm election, President Bush is focusing on the positive this week: a growing economy he is using to try to persuade voters to keep Republicans in power in Congress. The Commander-in-chief will no doubt trumpet a bevy of misleading economic indicators to demonstrate how fabulous the economy is doing. What he likely will fail to mention is the growing national debt, which currently stands at more than 8.5 trillion dollars! (To see the actual figure and watch it grow, check out this U.S. National Debt Clock provided by zFacts.com.) Once upon a time, the Republican Party was renowned for its fiscal conservatism. Now, the majority party spends money faster than they can print it, ensuring that generations to come will be saddled with monumental debt and increasingly difficult fiscal decisions. Think about that when you head to the polls on November 7.
