As reported by the Washington Post (and numerous others), the popular comedian, writer, and radio host Al Franken has announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate in Minnesota. It would almost be worth the harsh winters of that state to move there to help support Franken’s campaign and to cast a ballot for him. His willingness and ability to speak truth to power and “make the ridiculous look ridiculous” (to quote Molly Ivins) make him both a viable and a worthy candidate in the proudly independent state he calls home.
