Jesus Camp

Where does teaching end and indoctrination begin? What does it mean for this nation when a multitude of “kids are taught to become dedicated Christian soldiers in God’s army and are schooled in how to take back America for Christ”? The Academy Award-nominated documentary, Jesus Camp, takes an unflinching and unbiased look inside the world of the Christian evangelical movement and leaves the viewer with these very questions. The film is well-worth watching. Here is a preview:

  1. as someone who spoke in tongues and was baptized three times (it didn’t take) i can testify that this stuff is real. check out ‘Jesus Land’ by Julia Scheeres for a memoir about a ‘wayward’ brother and sister who were sent to a christian facility for troubled children in the dominican republic. when you have been inside the world of the true believers you know that this is not exaggerated and you understand why people behave the way they do. any recovering fundamentalists out there? please write.

  2. Thanks for the comment, ninjanurse. It sounds like your experiences as a “recovering fundamentalist” would make for a worthy article. I encourage you to share more on the topic.

  3. I have one problem with this it puts all Christians in one group, Just like Muslims have been put into one group as terrorists. Not all Christians go to this extreme and I think it is wrong to sterotype a huge group, because of one group.
