• Study of N.B.A. Sees Racial Bias in Calling Fouls—A most interesting article by Alan Schwarz in the New York Times that reports on a recent study which “suggests that a racial bias found in other parts of American society has existed on the basketball court as well.”

• Spying on Americans—Also from the New York Times, an editorial that raises concerns about the Bush administration’s push for “a bill that would enact enormous, and enormously dangerous, changes to the 1978 law on eavesdropping.”

• Scientists Protest New Reading of ESA—Via the Environmental News Network, a report from the Associated Press that details how “more than three dozen scientists have signed a letter to protest a new Bush administration interpretation of the Endangered Species Act, saying it jeopardizes animals such as wolves and grizzly bears.”

• Bush’s management style allows for incompetence – but not massage—A somewhat amusing piece by Matt Stearns of the McClatchy Newspapers that examines the peculiar “management philosophy of the CEO presidency.”
