• Self-Nonmedication—In the New York Times Magazine, Bruce Stutt offers a gripping and very personal account of the physical and psychological challenges he faced in weaning himself off anti-depressant medication.
• For Iraqi Soldiers, A Medical Morass—Karin Brulliard of the Washington Post reports on the plight of wounded Iraqi soldiers, who are often “left to the mercy of overtaxed and corrupt civilian hospitals and a military compensation system paralyzed by red tape and disorganization.”
• Saved by the bomb—Former Monty Python member Terry Jones pens a rather sarcastic opinion piece in The Guardian that suggests the GOP is struggling with “how to unload enough bombs on Iran before next year’s US election to bring about enough flag-waving to get the Republican party re-elected.”
• Maher Slams Conservatives Who Poison the National Debate—Via the weblog Crooks and Liars, an amusing video clip of Bill Maher taking conservatives to task for their arrogant and unwarranted tendency to “dismiss everything French, as if it’s somehow now ‘the ultimate argument winner.'”
The piece by Bruce Stutt is very interesting, particularly as he describes the “brain zaps.” I had not heard of that withdrawal symptom before.
