DEM Grants Public Hearing on Concrete Plant

From Frank Mattiucci, President of CCRZD:

Our lawyer, Richard Crowell, is in receipt of notices and communication from the Administrative Adjudication Division (“AAD”) of DEM indicating that they have decided to accept our first level appeal request for a hearing relating to the appeal of the April 9, 2007 Karleetor Insignificant Alteration Permit.

A tentative hearing schedule has been set as follows:

Status Hearing May 16, 2007
[ Verification that the parties in contest – (Karleetor and Permit Opponents ) cannot reach a resolution of the issues on Appeal ]

Prehearing June 28, 2007
[ Attempt to organize the presentation of the cases to be heard ]

Hearing Dates July 23, 24, 25, 2007

The City of Cranston filed a formal appeal of the actual permit itself on Thursday (as opposed to requesting an AAD hearing).

Also, there will be a community meeting regarding the concrete plant:

Wednesday ~ May 16 ~ Public Meeting ~ Sockanosset Library ~

Please plan to attend this meeting. Following a short general meeting, Sub-Committees will break into groups, meet, and then report their progress back to the whole group.

More details to follow. We wanted to get this date out to you well in advance.
