• …now that the vultures are circling the candidacy of Hillary Clinton and the superdelegates are vamoosing from her so as not to be mistaken for carrion, whether she is feeling bitter and, if so, whether she will cling to guns and religion or simply continue to sow the seeds of racial divisiveness.
• …what 178 Republicans in the House of Representatives were thinking earlier this week when they voted against a resolution “celebrating the role of mothers in the United States and supporting the goals and ideals of Mother’s Day” and, more importantly, what their own mothers must now be thinking.
• …in this day and age, why California demands that all its state employees sign a loyalty oath and how a university such as Cal-State Fullerton could fire a professor for refusing to sign on religious grounds.
• …how that woman I passed on Interstate 91 the other day, who had a cell phone in her right hand and a cigarette in her left, was managing to navigate her vehicle. (Check out the link.)
1.Hillary Clinton-guns??You must be kidding. She is a gun grabber by instinct it seems.Nice to see her losing.Obama also has a moronic view of gun control, but he hasn’t got the juice to push it through even if elected.
2.What WERE they thinking?
3.If someone doesn’t want to take an oath on religious grounds, they can always affirm-it’s accepted in every court in the country.A loyalty oath for a public employee seems reasonable, unless they are resident aliens, who really can’t take one. That occurs when someone naturalizes.
4.She was on autopilot, whatsamatta wit you?
Wow! Excellent observations on the absurdity of life in 2008. One balances between fury and laughter on Left Coast State funded institution demanding loyaty oaths to what: the U.S., California, George Bush’s comic book collection of a cabinet, Arnold and his old girlfriends, or to the Cal State-Fullerton assortment of Deans–where does the line get drawn? I personally took a loyalty oat to the New York Giants and Willie Mays, until they abandoned us in New York and went to California. Now that was an oath! Freedom means just what it means: we are free to be absurd (as I am frequently), or brilliant (which I am NEVER). We have a right to say the absurd so someone else can be brilliant–no barriers to word or thought.
Hillary (really “Billary”) cannot leave with dignity or grace–why should she. After all “Billary” showed little grace and no dignity while they occupied the White House. New meaning to the word sleeze not seen since Huey Long and perhaps JFK if we only knew then what we know now. The Nixon “sleeze” factor was more insidious of course. Mr. Nixon’s notion of “gratification” was different–squash our rights–unlike Bill’s more earthy notions.
I have a better driver story: guy in a dually and hauling a horse trailer (with 2 horses) on I-25 heading North toward Santa Fe, on cell phone cupped to ear by shoulder, other hand with cigar!, head turning back every 5 seconds in argument with girlfriend or wife in back seat. Everytime he turned his head back to obviously argue with the lady, the hand on the steering wheel moved and pulled the whole rig over the line into the passing lane. Cell phones in vehicles aree distracting and dangerous–silly people compund the problem. Our highways kill about 45,000 people every year and injure another 150,000–each year our highways kill 11 times (1100%) the number of American dead in Iraq over 6 years.
A Congress that has created National Pickle Week, National Secretaries Day, Golf Week, not passing on a resolution honoring Mothers of this country is perfectly in keeping with priorities. After all, House Members vote themselves annual 5% pay raises, free medical care, retirement benefits after three terms, and a vehicle allowence that lets a man of the people like Charlie Rangel to have a free limo and a free gasoline. So how can they have the time or the interest in honoring American motherhood.
