Two Rutgers students are facing charges for their extraordinarily cruel prank of secretly taping a roommate making love with another boy and posting the film on the internet. The student, Tyler Clementi, committed suicide.
One of the students looks likely to get off easy, because she’s going to rat out the other one.
(Reuters) – A student accused in the secret webcast of a Rutgers University student who later committed suicide entered a plea deal on Friday requiring that she testify against the man who allegedly set up the online video.
Part of the deal requires Molly Wei, 19, of West Windsor to testify against Dharun Rhavi, the roommate of Tyler Clementi who leaped off the George Washington Bridge last fall after learning he had been spied upon.
That’s the kind of friends you make when you betray someone who trusted you and humiliate them for fun.
If she was an accomplice then, ok, charge her too. If she was not the one who actually did the taping why should she be charged?
She was an accomplice, but she’s made a deal to testify against the other student who will probably do some time. She gets off with a lesser charge.
So, basically, she helped kill a guy and got away with it. I hope many accidents and bad things come her way. I have no sympathy for bullies, and if she crossed my path, I’d have no hestitation in beating her- or her friend- up
