Due to my commitments to the Fogarty for Mayor campaign, I have not been posting on Kmareka about local political issues. However, there are a few things I desperately want to call attention to, and this is one of them:

CEAB (Cranston Educational Advisory Board) will host a School Committee Candidates’ Forum on Monday, October 27th at Church of the Ascension’s meeting hall at 7:00 PM. Church of the Ascension is at 390 Pontiac Avenue, right next to the Auburn branch of the Cranston Library.

All school committee candidates will be invited to attend and CEAB Vice
Chair John Dietrich will be the moderator of the forum.

It can’t be stressed enough how important it is that we carefully select our school committee members in Cranston. School spending constitutes more than 55% of our budget in Cranston. We are in an unprecedented financial crisis and our schools are at tremendous risk for losing quality programming, among other things. If you care about quality education or about how we do business financially with our schools, please come to this forum, ask questions and get involved in helping the city resolve these difficult issues.
