With only 5% reporting, Lamont is ahead with 56% of the vote versus Lieberman at 43%. You can view the results as they come in here.
With 14% of the precincts reporting, Lamont is up 57% versus Lieberman at 42%. This is starting to look like a landslide.
Okay, maybe not. With 50% reporting, Lamont is now up 52%, with Lieberman at 47%. Seems every time a new batch of precincts comes in, Lieberman gains another percentage point.
With 83% reporting, Lamont seems to be holding a steady 9000 vote lead, with the percentages breaking down as Lamont 51.88, Lieberman 48.12, or something like that. Anyway, I think we’re looking at a slim but definite victory for Lamont. Woo-hoo! Time for bed. More celebrating tomorrow when it’s a sure thing.
I will not be able to go to sleep until I hear those final results.
Go Lamont!
Hi Andre! It’s good to see someone take on Joe Lieberman and win. I hope this means other Dems who have drifted away from the values of the party will rethink their positions. Jesse Jackson was quoted in the paper as saying that Lamont is taking on a much bigger Goliath than just Joe Lieberman with his race. Hopefully this is about people taking a more active interest in changing the quality of government and getting real representation.
PS: One DINO down, one RINO to go. I do believe Chafee is next, as we reconfigure the face of the US Senate seats in New England.
Kiersten,
Hello!
I think that Chafee just got really nervous after watching CT results come in.
Much as I’d like to see it, I don’t think it will be Laffey vs. Whitehouse for the US Senate seat.
I think Laffey’s supporters are way more vocal, but I suspect Chaffee’s supporters are more numerous.
But, boy, am I glad to see that Lamont won. And ol’ Joe better re-think his position on running as an independent. He should bow out gracefully, support Lamont, and exit the stage with some class. I mean, who does Lieberman think is going to vote for him in November: Republicans? I can see a signficant percentage of Reps voting for Joe, but are there enough of them?
