According to the Washington Monthly Sen. Saxby Chambliss is warning the President that he had better be ‘humble’.
Chambliss is experienced at political smear campaigns, having managed to paint his opponent for the Senate in 2002, Max Cleland, as soft on defense. A formidable task, since former Sen. Cleland is a Vietnam veteran, triple amputee, and a strong advocate for veterans’ rights.
Sen. Chambliss has a lot to be humble about. Let him go first.
I’m a big fan of Max’s from his appearances on Bill Maher’s show – he is a guy who just, not in a liberal or conservative way, MAKES SENSE. He brings some sanity to an environment populated by egos all over the political spectrum (and shame on Georgia for electing the likes of Chambliss to unseat him).
I’d love to see Max and Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer on a ticket together someday.
Max Cleland spoke in Providence early in the Iraq war. He spoke against the war, and for veterans. It’s too bad that Georgians chose a fast-talking politician over a man who served his country so well.
It’s too bad Americans chose a smooth talking community organizer over a man who served his country so well.
