President Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

Beyond amazing. It’s been in the back pages of US news that our president has been traveling internationally speaking about nuclear disarmament and cooperation in the Middle East. The rest of the world has noticed–

OSLO – President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his nascent initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and replace unilateral American action with international diplomacy and cooperation.

I have a bumper sticker that says–‘Proud of my President’. I’ll have to get two of them now.

  1. The hysterical reaction of the right convinces me the Nobel folks made the right decision.
Do we get another Freedom Fries as a result? Do we change the title of a classic Beatles tune to “Freedom Wood?”

  2. First they cheer when America didn’t win the Olympic bid.

Now they sneer when a sitting American president wins the Nobel Peace Prize.

Someone on another site commented that Obama was villified for putting mustard on his hamburger (Which I do, btw.)

    Why do republicans hate America?

  3. During the primary campaign Barack Obama said that if elected president he would not use nuclear weapons. As president he was recently working for nuclear disarmament. this is a cause that was neglected for eight years and off the radar of the US press but the rest of the world is watching.
This is a great thing for our national prestige, regardless of what the party of sour grapes and ‘no we can’t’ says.
