Why Birth Control is a Good Thing

Levi Johnston’s girlfriend is pregnant.

The baby daddy of Sarah Palin’s oldest daughter has impregnated yet another woman out of wedlock, his rep confirmed to Us Weekly Tuesday.

Johnston is expecting a child with girlfriend Sunny Oglesby, a 20-year-old preschool teacher from Wasilla, Alaska.

These things happen in the real world. Too bad the Republican Party rewards politicians who declare war on birth control instead of supporting birth control as a health measure and act of responsibility. Reality keeps catching up with them.

Bristol made enough money preaching abstinence to buy herself a house with cash. Levi will probably need to get a job. Infamy is not more long-lasting than fame.

  1. The Palin saga is a difficult story to comprehend; the twists and turns are a maze of contradiction, bad choices, media hype, money and seeking prominence. I have just finished the remarkable narrative by Joe McGinniss, “The Rogue; Searching for the Real Sarah Palin,” the story of his adventures when he rented a house next door to the Palins in Alaska, and hos discovery of Sarah Palin’s rise to prominence makes for an excellent but disturbing read. The current tale of Levi Johnston is not surprising after reading through the book (in one sitting mind you–could not put it down). But this Palin family saga is really not much more than the other side of the political coin of the Clinton tale of woe and misbehavior with interns and shady deals, or the foibles of the Kennedy clan, from the less than adequate morality of old Joe Kennedy, John F. Kennedy, Teddy Kennedy. Perhaps it is the political life that corrupts, although one must suspect that the ease of how all these folks have been corrupted must indicate some preexisting proclivities.

    1. Like they say, Christians are not perfect, only forgiven. They know where the rest of us unrepentant are going.
Jonathan Swift, in Gulliver’s Travels, met some people who were not trying to be saints, just not wicked.
I think he was on to something.

  2. I just don’t get why Republicans are making this an issue-birth control is such good common sense.Preventing unwanted pregnancy also prevents the horrible alternative of abortion.
People should enjoy sex and do it free of worry about pregnancy unless they want to,of course.
I think Santorum brought this conversation on and he can shut up anytime now.
birth control is not an issue for a Presidential race.
It is the kind of individual choice I support.
