One of our problems is that we are large and heterogeneous-now,I’m not saying the latter is a problem in and of itself,but having a smaller homogeneous population makes a lot of obstacles easier to approach-let’s see how some of those countries which “outdo”us can perform with essentially open borders-take Japan-they have a society which does not make foreigners welcome.Period.I don’t want to live in such a society but neither do I want to compare two such societies because the basis for comparison is invalid
