Review of Curious George Video

by Kiersten and Katrina Marek

This video also includes Morris the Moose and Stanley and the Dinosaurs, both of which are very funny and telling tributes to human behavior and learning. The dinosaurs in the last video are very scary and say "Raaaaaahh!!!!!" which my daughter loves. They also tell clever stories to rhyming rap-like songs. The cavemen (one of whom resembles Lou Grant) are a great satire on thug-like group dynamics. Stanley is so smart that the cavemen can't stand him and kick him out of the cave. But soon they learn that Stanley's smarts can be life-saving, and also that living in a stone house beats living in a cave.

Morris the Moose has two episodes on this tape. In the first, Morris goes to school. He learns how to count and say his ABC's, and then he and the children play make-believe. In episode two, Morris gets a cold and must stay in bed and have soup and medicine. He has funny arguments with the bear and in the end, he feels better.

The Curious George Comes to America story is a classic. After many amusing adventures, George ends up living with The Man with The Yellow Hat. In the end, George doesn't want to go to bed and gets up and tries to run away. My daughter likes that part.
