You know we love to hit new records here at Kmareka — and here’s a new record — we now have the highest number of peeps on food stamps in the US — 46.5 million! Guess our government plan to save the rich is working pretty well!

Think Apple is the only thing allowed to hit new records every month? Think again: presenting iFoodstamps – the number of Americans living in poverty (or at least doing a damn good job of fooling the government in pretending they do). As of December, per SNAP this number just hit another record high of 46.5 million, an increase of 384,000 in one month (and ending the trend of declines from October and November), 2.4 million in 2011 (about as many as have dropped out of the Labor force, hmmmm), and 14.3 million since Obama took office.

  1. Much of this is nonsense and the ability of some to take from others; the record number of those on food aid is matched by the record number of documented fraud cases; e,g, use of the credit card for for at casinos and elsewhere equally stimulating. Of the course the folks get their in cars and carry their cell phones, In point of fact, about half of Americans pay zero taxes, and the top 7% of earners pay more than 50% of all taxes paid. The ease of obtaining handouts and 99 weeks of unemployment insurance is the product of what is clearly the worst administration we have ever had. The Obama “team” has outdone Mr. Carter’s administration and then some for the “medal of awfulness.” Unfortunately, the Republican side seems to be just as lackluster especially in the case of Romney and Santorum; the only Republican intellectual is Newt, and he is beset by ethical challenges that cancel out the obvious smarts and experience. Mr. Paul is off the reality scale but his message is astonishingly popular with the younger college set–go figure. If we can survive this Obama term of office without sliding back into recession, and without another international disaster that costs American lives, one wonders if there will be a viable alternative. Hopefully the voters have learned that to elect a totally inexperienced and less than capable person to the presidency is an error not to be repeated.

  2. …the record number of those on food aid is matched by the record number of documented fraud cases…

Mr Wolberg, you have absolutely no proof for your statement.

More, it is simply not true.

The record number of food stamps is directly related to the record number of jobs lost, starting in 2007 under Pres Bush.

If you look at the graph, it starts to move up at exactly the time the waste material started to hit the fan. The correlation to the deepening of the recession is nearly perfect.

  3. you might look at the USDA and Congressional testimony…once in a which government “facts” do have meaning–core economics suggest folks will take what is “free” if given a chance

    1. There is no such thing as extra money, or food. If they get one pound of cheese, that frees up that much more money for other goods. Don’t you want people buying the disgusting crap they don’t actually need? After all, that’s what our whole economy is based on now!
